What is an iCal link?
An iCal link is a special internet address (URL) that looks similar to this:
https://www.mapmelon.com/api/ical/unit/clx91h26y0045mk2giga4jug0
Each unit on Mapmelon has its own unique iCal link.
The link is made up of the:
- Site Address: https://www.mapmelon.com
- Where on the site to look: /api/ical/unit/
- Your unique room code number: clx91h26y0045mk2giga4jug0
Where do I find it?
This unique link lives inside your Mapmelon dashboard. Follow these steps to grab it:
- Open your coliving from the Mapmelon dashboard.
- Go to the Bookings tab.
- Click on Availability.
- Scroll down to the units list below the calendar.
- Find the unit you want to sync and click the copy button next to its Mapmelon iCal URL.
Where do I add it in Mangobeds?
Mangobeds now has a dedicated iCal app for managing your calendar syncs. Once you have the Mapmelon iCal URL copied, paste it in there:
Go to Apps > iCal > add the link there.
Set up double sync between Mangobeds and Mapmelon
To keep your availability accurate and avoid double bookings, both calendars need to know about each other’s reservations. That means setting up the sync in both directions, one unit at a time:
- Mapmelon → Mangobeds: copy the Mapmelon iCal URL (steps above) and add it inside the Mangobeds iCal app (Apps > iCal). This way Mangobeds blocks dates booked through Mapmelon.
- Mangobeds → Mapmelon: copy each unit’s Mangobeds iCal URL from the iCal app and paste it into the same unit in Mapmelon (coliving > Bookings > Availability > pick the unit > paste the URL > save). This way Mapmelon blocks dates booked through Mangobeds.
Repeat this for every unit you want kept in sync. Keep in mind that Mapmelon pulls updates from other iCal systems once an hour, so a short delay between systems is normal.
Here you can find more information about connecting to external booking channels (OTAs) using iCal.
