How to Connect Turno to Mangobeds

Turno (formerly TurnoverBnB) schedules cleaning and linen turnovers for short-term rentals, and runs a marketplace where you can hire a cleaner if you do not have one. You can connect Turno to Mangobeds today through the iCal link we publish for every unit: paste it into Turno, and every checkout in Mangobeds turns into a cleaning job for that unit.

It works with every booking in Mangobeds, whatever brought it in: your own booking page, Airbnb, Booking.com, or a reservation you typed in by hand.

Before you start

  • You need a Turno account, on any plan that lets you add properties.
  • One unit in Mangobeds is one property in Turno. A room with four beds that you sell bed by bed is four units in Mangobeds, so decide whether the cleaner works per bed or per room and add the properties in Turno to match.
  • The link goes one way. Turno reads your calendar, and nothing is sent back into Mangobeds.

Where to find your Mangobeds iCal link

  1. In Mangobeds, open your property and go to Apps > iCal.
  2. Find the accommodation, then the unit you want cleaned.
  3. Copy the Export link on that unit with the copy button next to it.

Every unit has its own link, so copy one per unit and keep track of which is which. The link contains no guest data, only the dates the unit is taken.

Connect Turno to that link

Turno calls this syncing a rental calendar by iCal, and it lives on each property’s settings:

  1. In Turno, open the property you want to link. For a property you have not added yet, use New Property and fill in its details first, and Turno asks for the calendar at the end.
  2. Go to the property’s Sync tab and choose iCal/Others.
  3. Paste the Mangobeds export link into the Calendar Link field and click Add New Calendar.
  4. Repeat for every unit, each one into its own Turno property.

What happens after that

Turno reads the calendar on its own schedule and creates a cleaning project for each checkout it finds. From there everything stays in Turno: who cleans, what they are paid, which checklist they follow, and the photos they take when they are done. If you do not have a cleaner, Turno’s marketplace is where you find one.

Cancel a booking in Mangobeds and the dates come off the calendar, so the cleaning Turno had scheduled for that checkout goes with it on the next refresh.

What iCal syncs, and what it does not

iCal carries dates and nothing else. Three things follow from that, and they are worth knowing before you rely on it:

  • No guest details. Your cleaner sees that the unit is free on Friday, not that six people stayed in it.
  • It is not instant. Turno asks for the calendar on a schedule rather than being told, so a booking taken this minute shows up as a cleaning a while later, not straight away.
  • A finished clean does not come back. When your cleaner marks the job done in Turno, Mangobeds does not hear about it, so the unit’s clean or dirty status in the Housekeeping app is still yours to set.

If you would rather keep the whole turnover inside Mangobeds, the Housekeeping app schedules a clean on every check-in and check-out by itself, with your own staff and no second tool. Plenty of properties run both: Turno for the units with an outside cleaning company, Housekeeping for the rest.
