Marketing Tracking in Mangobeds: Google Analytics, Meta Pixel and Google Tag Manager

2 min read

Marketing tracking in Mangobeds tells your ad and analytics tools what guests do on your booking form: who searched which dates, who picked a room, who started a booking and who finished it, with the booking amount. That is how you see which campaigns bring you bookings, and how Google and Meta learn to show your ads to people who book.

Everything lives in one app, Marketing Tracking, in your property’s Apps section. Add the ids of the tools you use and your booking form starts sending right away.

Choose How You Track Bookings

Use one of these, or several together. Each guide walks through the setup.

  • Google Analytics and Google Ads: paste your GA4 Measurement ID, and your Google Ads Conversion ID if you run ads. Every step arrives in GA4 as a standard ecommerce event and fills in its funnel and monetization reports.
  • Meta Pixel: paste your Meta Pixel ID. Every step arrives in Meta Events Manager as a standard event, with the purchase and its value ready for your Facebook and Instagram campaigns.
  • Google Tag Manager: nothing to paste. When your booking form is embedded on your website, every step is also pushed into your website’s Tag Manager, so you or your agency can manage all your tags in one place.

What Your Booking Form Reports

The same steps go to every tool, each in that tool’s own language:

  • Search: a guest searches dates and sees the rooms that are free. Searches where nothing was free are reported too.
  • Picking rooms and extras: a guest adds or removes a room or an extra.
  • Starting checkout: a guest reaches the step where they fill in their details.
  • Going to payment: a guest clicks Book on a booking that is paid online.
  • Booking: the booking is created, with the full amount (rooms plus extras, minus any coupon), the currency, the rooms and extras booked, the dates and the booking ID.

Marketing Tracking on Your Website

Use the embed code from Mangobeds. When the booking form sits on your website, Mangobeds sends the events from your own website’s page, not from inside the form. That way they arrive in every browser, they join the visit that brought the guest in with its campaign and source, and they follow the cookie consent your website already asks for. A booking form placed on your website in a hand-made iframe cannot do this. Our guide to bookings from your website shows where to find the embed code.

It works alongside what you already have. Mangobeds sends no page views of its own, so the page counts from your website’s existing Google Analytics, Meta Pixel or Tag Manager stay as they are.

Each property has its own settings. If you manage several properties, each one can report to its own Google Analytics property and its own Meta Pixel.

Avoid Counting a Booking Twice

If you add your GA4 or Meta Pixel ID in the Marketing Tracking app, do not also build a GA4 or Meta tag on the Mangobeds events in Google Tag Manager, or each booking arrives twice. Pick one place for each tool. And if you once pasted a Meta Pixel or Google tag into your booking form’s custom HTML, remove it after connecting the app.
