MailerLite Connection Guide with Mangobeds
2 min read
The MailerLite integration connects your property to your MailerLite group, so every guest who books joins it automatically, with their name, and no CSV to export ever again.
Why MailerLite is a good first newsletter
If you run one property and you have never sent a guest newsletter, MailerLite is the easiest place to start. It is free up to 1,000 subscribers and includes automations at that tier, which most email tools reserve for paying accounts. For a single coliving, hostel or guesthouse, that usually covers the first year or more, so you find out whether a newsletter works for you before paying for one.
It is also the simplest of the four tools Mangobeds connects to. Fewer concepts, less to configure, and a cleaner editor than the ones built for large marketing teams.
What the MailerLite integration does
- Every confirmed booking adds the guest to the group you choose, with their name and last name.
- Your existing guests come across with one button in the app settings.
- Your group is visible inside Mangobeds, so you can see who is on it without opening MailerLite.
- Unsubscribes are permanent. A guest who opted out is never brought back by a later booking.
Step by step: connect MailerLite to Mangobeds
- In MailerLite, go to Integrations, then API, and generate a token with read and write access.
- In Mangobeds, go to Apps > Email Marketing and pick MailerLite.
- Paste the token.
- Choose which group your guests should join, from the groups already in your account.
- Decide whether guests should confirm their subscription first, then connect.
- Open Settings and run Sync guests now once to bring your existing guests across.
Should you ask guests to confirm?
Usually yes. With the confirmation step on, guests are added as unconfirmed and MailerLite emails them to opt in before anything else reaches them. Smaller list, better engagement, and the safer position under GDPR, where booking a room is legally not the same as asking for marketing.
Turn it off only if your booking flow already collects explicit marketing consent.
Frequently asked questions
Will a returning guest create a duplicate?
No. MailerLite matches on the email address, so a second booking updates the existing subscriber instead of adding another.
Can this resubscribe someone who opted out?
No. MailerLite has a resubscribe flag for exactly that, and Mangobeds never sends it. A guest who unsubscribed stays unsubscribed however many times they book.
Why does the contacts list not show my unconfirmed guests?
MailerLite’s group endpoint returns one subscriber status at a time and defaults to active, so the contacts table in Mangobeds shows your active subscribers. Guests who have not confirmed yet are in the group, they are simply not listed on that screen. You can see them in MailerLite itself. This is a limitation of their API rather than a choice on our side, and it is the only one of the four providers affected.
What happens if I disconnect?
New bookings stop being added. Everyone already in your group stays subscribed, because the group lives in your MailerLite account and belongs to you.
