Factur-X E-Invoicing for France with Mangobeds
2 min read
France is moving to electronic invoices. Businesses must be able to receive them since 1 September 2026, and small and mid-sized businesses must send them from 1 September 2027. If your property is in France, Mangobeds already gets your invoices ready for it.
What Factur-X is
Factur-X is one of the e-invoice formats France accepts. It looks like the PDF invoice you already send, but it carries the invoice data inside it as a structured file. People read the PDF. Software reads the data. One file does both.
Under the reform, e-invoices do not go straight to the tax office. They travel through an approved platform (a Plateforme Agréée), such as the one your bank or accounting tool offers, for example Qonto. You send or upload your invoice there, and the platform does the rest.
What Mangobeds does for you
For every property whose country is set to France, the invoice PDF you download from Mangobeds is a Factur-X invoice. Nothing to switch on. This works for:
- the Download button on a single invoice, and
- More, then Download Invoices, when you download several at once.
French properties’ invoices also print the line “Catégorie de l’opération : prestation de services”, one of the new mentions the reform asks for.
Set it up once
- Check your property’s country is France.
- Open Apps, then Invoicing, then More and Settings.
- In Tax Id, enter your French VAT number, for example
FR12345678901. Mangobeds reads your SIREN from it. - Save.
For each invoice
An e-invoice needs to know who the client is. Before you download, make sure the invoice’s client has at least one of these:
- a Nationality (the client’s country), or
- a SIREN, SIRET or French VAT number in Identification Number.
When the client is a company, put its SIREN, SIRET or VAT number in Identification Number. That is what the platform uses to route the invoice to them.
Good to know
- If something is missing (no French VAT number in your settings, or a client with no country and no company number), you still get your normal PDF invoice. It just has no e-invoice data inside.
- Corrective invoices (rectifications) download as a normal PDF for now.
- Lines with 0% VAT, such as the tourist tax, are marked as VAT exempt in the e-invoice data.
- Invoices to private guests (B2C) are not e-invoices under the reform. They fall under e-reporting, which your approved platform handles. You can keep downloading and sending these invoices as before.
