Revolut Connection Guide with Mangobeds

If your business is in the UK, the EEA, Switzerland or the United States, you can charge guests through Revolut right inside Mangobeds. Guests pay by card, Revolut Pay, Apple Pay or Google Pay on Revolut’s hosted checkout, and the money lands in the Revolut Business account you already use.

Before you start (what you need)

  • A Revolut Business account with the Merchant API enabled and your merchant account approved. A personal Revolut account will not work.
  • Your Revolut Public API key and Secret API key.
  • A property currency Revolut settles: GBP, EUR, USD, CHF, PLN, SEK, JPY, SGD or ZAR.

Where to find your API keys in Revolut

  1. Log in to Revolut Business.
  2. Go to Settings → APIs → Merchant API.
  3. Copy the Public key (it starts with pk_) and the Secret key (it starts with sk_). The Secret key is shown only once, so save it somewhere safe. If you lose it, generate a new pair.

Heads-up: the Secret key can move money, so treat it like a password. Don’t share it over email or paste it into chat.

About the webhook

Revolut tells Mangobeds when a payment is completed through a webhook, which lives on your Revolut account rather than on each payment. Mangobeds registers it for you when you connect, using the keys you paste, so there is nothing for you to set up in Revolut.

If the webhook cannot be created, the payment account is not connected at all and Mangobeds tells you why. That is deliberate: it means you can never end up taking money in Revolut while the booking stays unpaid in Mangobeds. You can see the webhook afterwards in Revolut Business under Settings → APIs → Merchant API, subscribed to the ORDER_COMPLETED event.

Where Revolut works

Revolut is available for properties whose business is registered in the United Kingdom, the EEA (the EU plus Iceland, Liechtenstein and Norway), Switzerland or the United States. Your guests can be anywhere: what the country list decides is where you can hold the merchant account.

How to set it up in Mangobeds

  1. Go to Property → Settings → Payment Accounts → Connect Payment Account.
  2. In Create a new payment account, choose Revolut as the provider.
  3. Paste your Revolut Public API Key and Revolut Secret API Key.
  4. Leave Sandbox unticked for real payments. Only tick it if the keys came from a Revolut sandbox account.
  5. Tick the box confirming you’ve read this guide.
  6. Save to create the payment account, then Connect it to the property.

Heads-up: once a property is linked to a payment account, you can’t swap providers on that property without removing the connection first.

How a guest payment works

  • Mangobeds sends the guest to Revolut’s hosted checkout, showing the amount and the booking it belongs to.
  • The guest pays by card, Revolut Pay, Apple Pay or Google Pay, and passes their bank’s 3D Secure check if one is asked for.
  • If a card is declined, the guest can try another one on the same page. Nothing is cancelled on your side.
  • Once the payment settles, Revolut notifies Mangobeds and the booking’s payment is marked Succeeded, with the usual notification to you.

Testing before you go live

If you want to try it first, open a Revolut sandbox business account, take the keys from it, and tick Sandbox when you connect. Sandbox keys and live keys are not interchangeable, so a key pasted with the wrong box ticked will simply fail to validate. Revolut publishes the test card numbers to use, including cards that deliberately decline so you can see what a guest sees.

Connecting Revolut to Mangobeds takes two API keys and about a minute. Guests get a checkout they recognise with Apple Pay and Google Pay built in, you get paid into the Revolut account you already run your business from, and every payment reconciles itself against the booking.
